I was forwarded this event from Clayton:

According to an AP article last week, “The Federal Communications Commission ordered its staff to destroy all copies of a draft study that suggested greater concentration of media ownership would hurt local TV news coverage, a former lawyer at the agency says.”

Tomorrow is your chance to tell the FCC that these underhanded tactics are unacceptable. The FCC is coming to Austin and they want to hear from you!

Please join me, tomorrow on the UT campus where you can hear leaders from the Austin community talk about this important issue. Also at the event will be FCC Commissioner Jonathan Adelstein, who is touring the country to hear from people like you about the upcoming rule changes the FCC has planned for TV, radio and newspaper ownership.

WHAT: Public Hearing on Media Ownership
WHEN: Tuesday, September 19, 2006, 6:30 p.m.
WHERE: University of Texas Jester Auditorium (A121A), 201 East 21st St., Austin Texas Map
WHO: FCC Commissioners Jonathan Adelstein, local leaders and media representatives, concerned residents.

Come early and learn more about the issues surrounding media concentration and the purposed rule changes, as well as get key facts to formulate your comments. The special workshop will be held on the second floor of the same building at 5:30 PM in room A215A.

On Friday, the public comment period ends. Now is the time; let the FCC hear from you tomorrow!

Thank you,
